  • A curriculum vitae, with educational degrees, teaching experience, and publications. For applicants in studio art, music, or theater performance, portfolios, audio and/or video recordings and other forms of relevant documentation are welcome (electronic portfolios are preferred). Artistic exhibition, public performance, or production involving undergraduate students may substitute for teaching, at the discretion of the program director.
  • A graduate transcript or a dossier that includes a graduate transcript and may include general letters of recommendation.  Please send transcripts from all graduate institutions attended.
  • Two letters of recommendation that should, in addition to addressing the applicant's teaching and research, comment on the strength and character of the applicant's commitment to an academic vocation and suitability for the Lilly Fellows Program.
  • An application essay of not more than 1,000 words that discusses the sources of the candidate's interest in this fellowship program, the candidate's preparation for and dedication to undergraduate teaching, and the candidate's immediate and long-range research interests.

Final selection of the Lilly Fellows is made by a Valparaiso University faculty committee that includes the Program Director.

Finalists will be invited to Valparaiso University for mandatory on-campus interviews on February 10-12, 2012. Three postdoctoral fellowships will be awarded.

All application materials should be directed to The Selection Committee. It is strongly preferred that documents are sent in one complete package but may be sent separately if absolutely necessary. Facsimiles are acceptable as long as the original is mailed as well.
